Baby sensory. Rainbow rice in a bottle

A few months ago i made some rainbow rice  for Seb and put it in his sand and water table, it looked so pretty that i thought it would be nice to make a sesnory bottle along the same line.
Sensory bottles are great, i used to make them for Seb and he still occasionally plays with those now, you can do so many different things with them, the possibilities are endless. All you need is an empty bottle and an imagination.

Foe this i dyed rice with food colourings(see here for how to dye), the eagle eyed will realise i didn't use all the colours of the rainbow, i just used the colours that i had in the cupboard. Once they had dried out i layered them into the bottle to create the rainbow effect.
Alex liked watching this being shaken and also hitting it when it was laid next to him on his play mat.
Of course the colours didn't stay layered for long but they still look super pretty all mixed in together.
I've filled it quite alot so that he will be able to push it to make it roll nicely as he gets bigger.

Someone else also enjoyed giving this a good shake!

I'll be making more sensory bottles over the next few months so watch this space.

  1. Great idea! Thanks so much for mentioning Funky Giraffe bibs, they are brilliant and don`t get in the way like big bibs. I`m going to order more.
